In a Saunders County courtroom Wednesday, 60 year old Jeffrey Ehrlich was charged with attempted murder. Investigators say the semi driver crashed into one Wahoo Police SUV and a cruiser with his semi-tractor Tuesday.
While investigators say Ehrlich had issues with the police department, Ehrlich told a judge that he didn't remember. 6 News reports “This is a big, big problem that happened. I don’t recall much that evening,” said Ehrlich.
Police were called to Ehrlich's home originally for a disturbance. Prosecutors say Ehrlich was looking for a fight. One officer had to jump behind a tree for protection as the semi jumped a curb. Prosecutors also say that Ehrlich also came at them with a baseball bat.
6 News reports that Saunders County Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz said, “We are probably lucky the outcome was just two totaled police cars and a damaged truck.”
No one was injured.
Bond was set at $500,000 as the judge believed Ehrlich was a flight risk and a danger to others.
