Two Millard Students Killed In Sarpy County Crash

There is shock and sadness in the Millard School District following the deaths of two students in a crash at 192nd and Highway 370 Wednesday morning.

Investigators say 10-year-old Stephen Young and his 16-year-old sister Abby were killed in the crash just before 10:00 a.m. Their mother Kristy and two siblings, Levi and Hunter, were injured along with three other people.

According to the Sherrif's Office four cars vehicles were involved in the crash, including a dump truck that rear ended the Young's Toyota mini-van that investigators say was stopped at a red light.

Millard Public Schools issued a statement following the tragedy:

"Our hearts go out to the Young family. The loss of Stephen and Abby is unfathomable. Both were a vibrant part of our community. We ask everyone please keep the Young family in their thoughts and prayers."

Crisis teams will be available for students and staff at Reagan Elementary and Millard West starting at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators say the dump truck that was involved in the crash was driven by 37 year old Jesse Knight of Papillion. He was employed by The Rock Place landscaping supply store in Elkhorn.

The company also issued a statement:

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who were injured in the accident today on Highway 370. We are saddened by the tragic loss of life in the accident, and our hearts go out to the families of who were injured and passed away today.”

Investigators are still trying to determine what led to the crash.
