Claims Filed Against OPS In Connection To Teacher's Conviction

Three parties have filed tort claims against the Omaha Public School District in connection to former teacher Gregory Sedlacek. He was sentenced to 40 to 50 years in prison for the sexual assault of at least three students.

The claims range from $100,000 to $5 million stating negligence in the hiring and supervision of Sedlacek.

The district released this statement Friday:

“We take great care to ensure all our employees understand that they are mandatory reporters under Nebraska law. We remain dedicated to providing a safe school environment for all of our students."
