This is in connection to an incident on June 19th at 13th and Pine Street. Two Omaha Police detectives in an unmarked unit saw two males run from behind a home and into a vehicle. The officers became suspicious and followed the vehicle. At one point the suspects’ vehicle went through an alley near Pine Street. Several of the suspects took off on foot and others in the vehicle that was located near 7th and Bancroft. A traffic stop was conducted and everyone in the vehicle were taken in for questioning.

After interviewing witnesses, it was determined that the occupants of the vehicle had knowledge of the parties at the residence that had guns. The driver placed a cell phone call to someone in the home and told them they were being followed by a vehicle occupied by rival gang members or police officers and asked for help. After the shots had been fired, one of the suspects took possession of a firearm provided to him by one of the suspects who fired, and removed the gun from the scene. Six casings and one firearm were recovered from the scene. No weapons were fired by Omaha Police during the incident.
