Staffers at the National Weather Service Office in Valley tried to bake biscuits on the dashboard of a car in Thursday's brutal heat.
Meterologist Hallie Bova says it was a fun experiment, but with a serious side. "The idea behind it was to kind of show that we can cook biscuits in a car so if you leave your child or your pet or you sit in your car long enough it can have serious effects."
Bova says the pan got to 185 degrees. "The temperature of the seat itself and my backseat, which is in the shade was 145." After several hours she says the top of the biscuits started to brown, but the inside remained doughy.
