Four WWII Aircraft Will Be Flying Inbound To Omaha This Weekend

History will be flying into Omaha Friday afternoon. Four WWII warbirds, a B-17 Flying Fortress, a B-24 Liberator, a P-51 Mustang and a P-40 Warhawk will be landing at TAC Air behind Eppley Airfield around 2 p.m.

Wings of Freedom Omaha Tour Volunteer Michael Dober tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB, "You can walk through, climb through the bombers as much as you want. The B-24 Liberator, there was more than 18,500 made and this is the last one that is fully restored. The B-17, there isn't a lot of them left. They are all basically flying museums. They were all the icons of air power during WWII for America."

Ground and walking tours are $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. WWII veterans are admitted at no charge.

Dober says, "There might be seven veterans there on Saturday morning. They are the last of two bomber groups. You still get some veterans come through."

For those wanting to take flight, rides are available. Rides on the B-17 and the B-24 are $450.

Flight training on the P-51 Mustang and P-40 Warhawk is also available to actually take the controls and fly the famous fighters of WWII with an experienced instructor for either 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Prices range from $2,200 to $3,400, depending on the time in air.

Ground and walk through tours are:

Friday, July 19th - 2:00 PM till 5:00 PM

Saturday, July 20th - 10:00 AM till 5:00 PM

Sunday, July 21st - 10:00 AM till 5:00 PM
