Three Injured In Abbott Drive Crash

Three people were injured in a two vehicle crash late Thursday night north of Eppley Airfield. Police say it happened around 10:30 p.m. on Abbott Drive just north of East Fort.

Investigators say a 2004 Pontiac GTO was northbound on Abbott Drive when it left the roadway, went over the median barrier and took out four trees. The Pontiac came to rest in the southbound lanes of Abbott Drive.

Police say the force of the collision with the trees caused tree debris to strike a southbound 2004 Honda Accord. Police say speed, alcohol and lack of seat belt use are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.

The driver of the Pontiac, 46 year old Michael Brown, suffered minor shoulder and neck injuries. His passenger, 36 year old Monique Thomas, suffered serious injuries to her arm, ribs, pelvis and head. Police say she's expected to survive.

The driver of the second vehicle was treated for an ankle injury. The investigation is continuing.
