A 54 year old man is facing charges of first degree sexual assault of a child.
Joseph Pierce was arrested on July 3rd.Police say the incident initially occurred in 1997 or 1998 but it was not reported until 2005.
Investigators have been trying to locate Pierce to question him on the allegations since 2005 and notified surrounding agencies. On December 5, 2018, the Bellevue Police Department contacted the Omaha Police Special Investigations Section and told them they had contacted Pierce.
Detectives interviewed Pierce and re-interviewed the victim, who is now an adult. Detectives also interviewed several family members and neighbors who lived in the area at the time of the original incident.
A warrant was granted for Pierce's arrest. He was located in Indiana and was extradited to Nebraska.
