Man Accused Of Pretending To Be A Doctor To Get Prescription

A man is accused of several charges after pretending to be a doctor calling in a prescription for a controlled substance.

Lincoln Police were called to Russ's Market at 17th and Washington Street Tuesday after getting a report of a fraudulent prescription.A person stated he was a doctor and calling in a prescription for Stephon Watkins. The controlled substance prescription requires a wireless or handwritten submission and could not be accepted by phone. That is something the ordering physician should have known so the pharmacy suspected fraud and called police.

Officers found Watkins in the store's parking lot in a 2019 Chevrolet Suburban that had been reported stolen in Austin, Texas.

Watkins was arrested for providing false information to a practitioner for a controlled substance and theft by receiving stolen property.
