An Indiana toddler died after she fell from the 11th-floor deck of Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas cruise ship while it was docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The 18-month-old was being held by her grandfather when she slipped out of his arms and fell out a window, landing 150 feet below onto the concrete dock.

The young girl was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the girl's death but believe it was a tragic accident. Investigators are reviewing surveillance camera footage from the 11th-floor pool deck and interviewing other passengers who witnessed what happened. They have yet to speak with the grieving family about the incident.

"We are deeply saddened by yesterday's tragic incident, and our hearts go out to the family," Royal Caribbean's communications manager Owen Torres wrote in a statement. "Out of respect for their privacy, we do not plan to comment further on the incident."
