The Bellevue Public Safety Foundation received a generous donation that will be put to good use. That money will be used to purchase a Digital Detection K-9 for the Bellevue Police Department.
Cell phones, thumb drives and other electronics contain a certain chemical agent that dogs can be trained to detect. The dog can sniff them out. The emphasis will be on crimes against children but the K-9 will also be used for search warrants, murders and in other cases when officers need to locate electronics.
The new K-9 should be ready for duty in November.
