Sarpy County authorities say four people were killed and another seriously injured in a fiery one vehicle crash late Monday night near 180th and Platteview Road.
Investigators say it appears that a Ford Fusion was being driven eastbound on Platteview Road approaching 180th Street just after 11:00. For some unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway, struck the end of a guardrail and ended up in a ravine.
The vehicle caught fire and was fully engulfed when deputies arrived. Investigators say there were five individuals in the vehicle at the time of the crash and all are believed to be 15 to 16 years old. Four were pronounced dead at the scene. The fifth person was taken to a local hospital to be treated for burns.
Names of the victims will be released when positive identification has been made and the families notified. Sarpy County authorities say it's unknown at this time if speed and/or alcohol was involved.
