Overnight Omaha House Fire Was An Accident

Omaha Fire Department investigators say an early morning fire in a one story home was accidental in nature: improperly discarded smoking materials.

The fire was around 2:30 a.m. near 25th and Monroe Streets. Upon arrival, firefighters reported smoke and flames coming from the front of the house.

One person was able to safely escape, but the family dog perished. The Red Cross is assisting one person who was displaced.
