An Omaha couple is charged with theft and criminal possession of a financial transaction device.
35 year old Justin Templeton and 25 year old Charlicia Hicks are accused of a "smash and grab" theft from a vehicle in west Omaha. Templeton was also booked for possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief, and possession of a weapon by a prohibited person.
Douglas County Sheriff's deputies spotted their vehicle north of 178th and Blondo. That vehicle was tied to a crime at a hotel at 104th Street and Bedford Avenue. Deputies searched the car and found stolen ID's, credit cards, personal documents and checkbooks that were not theirs.
A third person was arrested and released. Investigators will work to contact the owners of the stolen property.
