Reckless Driver Cited For 168th and West Dodge Accident

Omaha police say a reckless driver caused an accident around 2 p.m. Friday at the on-ramp to West Dodge Road at 168th Street. Investigators say that a red 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix was passing vehicles on the right shoulder of the on-ramp when it hit the passenger side of a 2919 Lexus GX SUV.

The Pontiac then went into a slide, hit a metal light pole and the guardrail for the bridge over the Union Pacific rail line.

The driver of the Pontiac, 25 year old Taylor Ackerman of Omaha was taken to a hospital with head and chest injuries. She is expected to recover. Ackerman was not wearing a seat belt. She was cited for reckless driving, driving during suspension, for not wearing a seat belt and no valid registration.

The driver of the Lexus was not hurt.

The on-ramp to eastbound Dodge Street was shut down for about two hours.
