A 7 year old child was thrown from a vehicle around 8 this morning near 60th Avenue, north of Ames.
Omaha police say the driver, 44 year old Fabian Degante-Hernandez got out of the car and it started to roll backwards onto 60th Street. An unrestrained 7 year old passenger was thrown from the vehicle. That car continued to cross Ames Avenue until hit hit a parked and unoccupied vehicle.
The Boy was taken to a hospital with a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage. His injury is serious but he should recover.
Degante-Hernandez was cited for no child restraint, unattended motor vehicle, no driver's license and with child neglect. Alcohol and speed were not factors in this accident.
