NSP Troopers Busy During Start Of Summer Enforcement

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol completed the annual "Click It or Ticket" campaign in conjunction to the start of the summer driving season. It ran from Monday, May 20th through Sunday, June 2nd. Troopers issued 39 citations for seat belt violations.

During the two week campaign, troopers removed 22 impaired drivers from the road. They also issued 934 speeding tickets, 78 citations for driving under suspension and 56 for no proof of insurance. They issued seven citations for minor in possession, 26 for having an open container, 39 for not wearing seat belts and 18 for improper child restraint. Troopers arrested 10 drivers for reckless driving, 55 for drug offenses and 29 fugitives on active warrants.

Troopers also helped 58 motorists with car trouble in need of help.

ā€œNow that the summer driving season is well underway, we encourage all drivers to do their part to make the roads safe,ā€ said Colonel John Bolduc. ā€œWhether your summer includes road-trips or trips across town, make sure you click your seat belt before hitting the road.ā€

The ā€œClick It or Ticketā€ campaign was made possible thanks in part to a grant for $25,000 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation - Highway Safety Office.
