I-29 Closed Again From Highway 34 In Iowa To Missouri Line

For the second time in two months flood waters have forced the closure of I-29 from Highway 34 in western Iowa down to the Missouri border.

"We're almost back to square one where we we're at the height of the March flooding," says Austin Yates with the Iowa DOT. He says drivers wanting to get to Kansas City have a couple of options. "The detour we're recommending is to take I-80 east to Highway 71 south into Missouri. If you want to stay on the interstate you're only option is to take I-80 east into the Des Moines metro to I-35," Yates says.

Yates also says they have closed I-29 north of Council Bluffs between the two legs of I-680 at Crescent and Loveland.

More information, including updates on the status of I-29 and other flood-affected roads, can be found on 511ia.org.
