Stothert Recall Effort Ends For A Second Time

An effort to recall Mayor Jean Stothert has come to an end, again. In a post to the "Recall Stothert for a Better Omaha" Facebook page Wednesday night organizers cited a lack of funding and volunteers to keep the movement afloat.

"We’re officially throwing in the towel. This isn’t possible with little funding and not enough volunteers help," the post read.

Those volunteers would have had to circulate enough petitions to gather nearly 35,000 signatures from local voters over 30 days to get a recall election on the ballot.

It was the second time the effort has been abandoned by organizers. The group had said Stothert's handling of the pothole situation and her mismanagement and mistreatment of the police and fire departments were a couple of reasons they wanted her to be recalled.
