The latest movie to get the reboot treatment is The Terminator franchise. Not the first attempt to breathe new life into the famous film. The sixth film will come out this summer and marks the return of James Cameron, albeit in a Producer rule (but producers are pretty cool). 20th Century Fox has announced that a trilogy of movies is planned. I believe that was also the plan when "Terminator: Salvation" and "Terminator: Genysis" were released, so if the movie is bad enough, the plans can be scrapped.
Tim Miller left the Deadpool franchise to direct this new film, both Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise their roles from the original movie.
Watching the trailer, I couldn't decide if this looked good or not (which means it likely isn't). I liked the first half, but the second half looks like the movie devolves into the same mess that befell the terrible sequels. There's a steadier hand at the wheel this time, so I'm willing to give it a little more rope. It looks to me like maybe we have a really big action spectacle, but not a great story. And after the last three Terminator movies, that's probably enough to succeed.
Terminator: Dark Fate hits theaters November 1st (which is a peculiar date)
