Flood Damaged West Dodge Road To Reopen Monday Afternoon

After being closed for 66 days due to flood damage, the Nebraska Department of Transportation says West Dodge Road at 228th Street west of the Elkhorn River will reopen late Monday afternoon.

The March 2019 flooding caused significant damage of the 3.4 miles of road. Hawkins Construction and the NDOT partnered to expedite reconstruction and the roadway is opening three weeks ahead of schedule.

NDOT District Two Engineer, Tim Weander says this section of West Dodge carries an annual daily traffic count of 25,000.

The project cost $2.2 million and included shoulder reconstruction due to pavement and embankment damage. The pavement was undermined causing segments of roadway to drop three feet in places.
