Former NSP Investigator Avoids Jail Time In Drug Theft Case

A former Nebraska State Patrol investigator has admitted to taking opioids from drug take-back events and overdose investigations.

46 year old Christopher Kober pleaded guilty to possession of controlled substance and he was sentenced Wednesday to two years of probation.

As part of his job with the state patrol Kober was supposed to pick up pills from drug take-back events and turn them in to be disposed of, but prosecutors say he kept many of those pills and hid them in his home.

When law enforcement searched his house in March of 2017 they found 1,800 pills with an estimated street value of $18,000.

Kober was fired from his job after his arrest. As part of his plea agreement he cannot appeal his termination and cannot seek future employment in law enforcement.
