A Macaw that was part of a flighted bird presentation at the Lincoln Children's Zoo was killed Tuesday when it landed in the tiger habitat.
The zoo released a statement that it happened during a live rehearsal of a flighted bird presentation. Workers were able to secure the tigers and they removed the injured bird to receive veterinary care.It later died at the clinic.
A zoo statement reads:
“The safety of our guest, staff and animals is the highest priority. During the incident at no point were any of our guests or staff in danger. We are currently evaluating the situation with our animal team about our future flighted bird presentation.”
