An Omaha man was killed in a one vehicle crash near 46th and Ames Avenue early Sunday morning. Investigators say a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant was eastbound on Ames Avenue around 1:20 a.m. when it left the roadway, rolled and collided with a tree.
The driver, 32 year old Vernon Welchen, was transported to Nebraska Medicine where he died due to his injuries. Police say speed and alcohol are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.
