Police Say Lincoln Man Stabbed Neighbor Who Hit Him With Tree Branch

A Lincoln man is behind bars after police say he stabbed another man early Wednesday morning. Officers were called shortly before 2 a.m.to a home near 17th and E streets and found a 32-year-old man lying outside and bleeding from the chest.

He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses reported that 32 year old Mehdi Darvishi stabbed him.

Darvishi was arrested and claimed the victim hit him with a tree branch so he stabbed him. Darvishi was not injured. A witness reported Darvishi was standing outside when the victim and a friend parked their car. Darvishi had words with them and began to chase after the victim with a knife.

Police say the victim began to run, but Darvishi chased after him and stabbed him. Darvishi was arrested for first-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
