King Lake Residents Receive Rebuild Notification Letters

Residents of King Lake now know whether or not they can rebuild after last month's flood.

Omaha sent out 101 letters and 31 included No Rebuild notifications. Seventy can be rebuilt but the home must be raised a foot higher than the flood plain.

If it would cost more than 50 percent of a home's value to rebuild, a No Order was issued.

One of those that received a No Rebuild order was Ladonna Myers. She tells 6 News, “It’s hard because we have no answers. We’re here right now and we’re at a standstill. We don’t know who to contact where to go or what to do next.”

Owners issued a No Rebuild order can appeal that decision by contacting the Omaha Planning Department.
