Candlelight Vigil Held For Man Stabbed To Death

Family and friends of a 25-year-old man who was stabbed to death early Sunday morning gathered for a candlelight vigil near 13th and Center Street Sunday night.

Dylan Kenney's sister is hoping the killer will be caught soon. "Find who did this,” Elyse Kenney told 6 News. "Make sure that we can assure this doesn't happen anymore because I'm tired of hearing people dying,” she says.

Friends and family lined the sidewalk near the very spot where Kenney was murdered hours earlier. "He never had any hate in his heart, so the fact that something like this happened that was so senseless...it doesn't make sense to me,” Kenney’s friend Benjamin Hutchison told 6 News.

Police discovered Kenney lying in the street early Sunday morning with several stab wounds. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital where he died.

"When I got the news I was almost numb,” said Hutchison. Those who loved Dylan raised balloons and lit candles remembering the man they once called a brother and a friend.

"It's overwhelming. He touched a lot of people,” said Hutchison. "I know Dylan wouldn't want us to be crying, but he was a great man. He deserves a tear or so."

Omaha Crimestoppers are offering $25,000 for a tip that leads to the arrest of Kenney’s killer.
