More Nebraska Counties Eligible For Disaster Assistance

Federal aid is now available for more Nebraskans recovering from March's historic flooding.

The residents and business owners in Boone, Buffalo, Custer, Knox, Richardson and Thurston Counties are now able to apply for disaster assistance for damage stemming from the floods. The Santee Sioux Nation has also been added to the list.

Homeowners and businesses affected by the flood should report their damage to local emergency management while FEMA and NEMA work to assess and validate additional damage.

Affected parties can apply online or by calling 800-621-3362 or 800-462-7585.

Assistance will help flood victims pay for basic repairs, find temporary rental assistance and cover serious disaster-related needs that are not covered by insurance.

Originally, only Butler, Cass, Colfax, Dodge, Douglas, Nemaha, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington County residents were eligible for the assistance.
