Teen To Be Charged As An Adult In Murder Of Council Bluffs Man

An Omaha teen will be charged as an adult in the January murder of a Council Bluffs man.

At a Thursday morning court appearance, a judge agreed to transfer 16 year old Xavier Smith-Catchings' case from juvenile court to adult court. Smith-Catchings is one of three suspects in the murder of 38 year old Adam Angeroth whose body was found inside his apartment near 1st and Kanesville Boulevard on January 24th. Angeroth's famliy had not heard from him in several days when his body was discovered.

An autopsy confirmed evidence of foul play, including blunt force trauma and knife wounds, which led to First Degree Murder charges for Smith-Catchings and the two other suspects, 20 year old Nicholas Haner of Harlan, Iowa and 21 year old Liam Stec, of Omaha

Formal charges will be filed by the Pottawattamie County Attorney’s Office on April 5th.
