A Lincoln police officer is recovering after being hit by a vehicle Sunday morning near 32nd and Huntington.The officer was responding to a suspicious vehicle report.The officer was approaching the car when the driver started backing out of a stall to avoid the officer.The driver then quickly accelerated out of the parking lot and intentionally veered towards another officer.
The officer was in danger of being pinned between his cruiser and the suspect’s vehicle but was able to get out of the way.The officer suffered a minor hand and elbow injury.There was plenty of room for the car to exit the parking lot and the driver intentionally tried to strike the officer.
Just after 7:30 a.m., officers were called to a hit and run at 33rd and Cornhusker. The same vehicle that was involved in the parking lot incident was found abandoned.
The search for the driver continues.
