A house fire near 14th and Ames caused an estimated $17,000 in damage Monday morning.
The blaze was reported shortly after midnight and as fire fighters rolled up to the vacant home, they found smoke and flames billowing from the home.
Tires on a rear deck were burning and spread the flames into the attic. The fire was quickly brought under control.
The house appeared to be in the midst of some remodeling, but no one was present when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation.
