Four Killed In Seward County House Fire

Four people are dead after a Saturday morning house fire in Seward County. At around 7:20 a.m. the Cordova Fire Department was dispatched to reports of a house fire at 250 Helen Street. Firefighters found smoke and flames coming out the front door and a window of the house.

It was determined that six people were in the burning home at the time. Two people were able to get out with no injuries. State Fire Marshal investigators have recovered the remains of the four other individuals. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, however, foul play is not suspected.

The Seward County Attorney has ordered an autopsy for all four victims. Responding agencies include Cordova, Beaver Crossing, Friend, Utica, and Exeter. The Seward County Sheriff’s Office and Seward County Attorney is assisting our office in the investigation. 

Investigators are still trying to obtain positive identification of the victims. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
