It's part water, part ice, and all over Ames. Early morning traffic on Ames was snarled by a broken water main, hampering westbound vehicles near 61st Street on Tuesday.
Westbound traffic was shut down for a time, but vehicles were gradually getting back in motion. Some obstructions are still in the way as repair work continues, so drivers should still try to find alternate routes. The initial break was reported shortly after 3:00 AM and MUD has had a crew on scene for hours.
The crew did have to shut down water service for repairs. That shutdown affects approximately fifteen customers, but water service should be restored by noon.
