A 23 year old Omaha man was killed in a one vehicle crash Sunday night on I-80 near I Street. Omaha police say just before 10:45 officers were called to I-80, just north of the I Street off-ramp for a one vehicle crash.
Investigators determined that a 2004 BMW 325 XI was westbound on I-80, nearing the off-ramp, when the vehicle veered to the right colliding with the snow packed shoulder. The BMW then vaulted over the concrete barrier and landed on an embankment.
The driver, Ivan Pena, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to CHI Bergan Mercy hospital where he later died from his injuries. No one else was in the car.
The crash remains under investigation.
