After nearly 30 years of serving patients at 42nd and Douglas Nebraska Medicine is moving the Clarkson Family Medicine Clinic to a brand new location in downtown.
The renovated building is located at 13th and Leavenworth. Originally constructed in 1895, the building once housed a business that sold baking supplies in bulk. The character of the building is preserved through features like exposed brick and wood beams.
The clinic contains 16 exam rooms, a procedure room, dedicated ultrasound room and X-ray. Providers will begin seeing patients in the new location Monday, March 18. A public open house will be held Saturday, March 2 from noon until 2:00 p.m. There will be clinic tours and prizes as well as a blood drive and blood typing event.
Program Director Amy Jespersen says with a growing number of people who live and work in downtown it was time for them to make the move to provide access to health care in the area. She says many of the patients that they currently serve at 42nd and Douglas come from Council Bluffs, so the trip will be shorter for them.
She's hopeful many of their current patients will follow them to the new location, which is about three miles east of their current clinic. Jespersen says moving day is just around the corner. "Our current clinic will be closed on March 14 and 15 and we plan to open for business on March 18.
