Bellevue Officer Resigns Amid Death Investigation

Bellevue Police say an officer accused of punching first responders who came to his girlfriends home last year and found his girlfriend dead has resigned from the department. Police say Officer Craig Wiech resigned his position and that his last day was February 16th.

Wiech is involved in a death investigation from August when first responders found his girlfriend, Carrie Brown, dead in a bedroom in her home near 190th and L. Wiech says

The Douglas County Sheriff said Wiech was combative during the investigation and threw a punch at a cop and firefighter. He was charged with assault on a peace officer but was not charged in connection to Brown's death.

Wiech is out on a $1 million bond. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said the investigation is ongoing in Brown's death.
