A Holdrege man has been arrested following the shooting deaths of two people and the wounding of a third person in separate incidents that occurred in Thursday afternoon
The Nebraska State Patrol says around 2:30 p.m. Holdrege Police responded to a report of a shooting at 416 Logan Street. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the incident. Additional crime scenes were then identified in two units at the Sunrise View Apartments.
A short time later, a vehicle owned by the suspect was seen traveling in the north part of Holdrege. A short, low-speed pursuit ensued and the suspect drove to the Phelps County Sheriff’s Office where he was taken into custody without further incident.
45 year old Manuel Gomez was booked into the Phelps County Jail and investigators say he is the only suspect in all three shootings. The Patrol says 65 year old Raymond Burton and 54 year old David Rogers were found dead in separate units of the Sunrise View Apartments. The third victim, 64 year old Doyle Morse was able to call 911 after being shot at 416 Logan Street. He was life-flighted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney in critical condition.
The NSP tweeted Thursday night. "Investigators, Troopers, Police Officers, Deputies, Dispatchers, EMS - are all working tirelessly following the evil that was done in Holdrege today. Our thoughts are with the family of the victims, and with the brave men and women that are dealing with the aftermath."
