A Council Bluffs man was one of two University of Northern Iowa students killed in a traffic crash northeast of Des Moines on Sunday.
21 year old Tristan Marlow and 21 year old Justin Kime of Stewartville, Minnesota were killed on Highway 14 north of Conrad, Iowa around 12:30 p.m.
The Grundy County Sheriff's Office says Marlow and Kime, who was driving, were northbound when their car went out of control on the snow-covered road and crossed into the path of a southbound semi.
In a statement, UNI officials say Tristan was majoring in religion and was involved in St. Stephen the Witness and Knights of Columbus. "Tristan was very active in the Boy Scouts in Council Bluffs and loved helping develop young men and future leaders. He loved the outdoors as well as history, especially medieval history."
David Konfrst was one of Tristan's friends. "He had a propensity for cracking jokes and loved to bring smiles to people’s faces. He was also fiercely protective of his friends and enjoyed trying new things."
Tristan was due to graduate this spring.
