Omaha Principal Appears In Court On Felony Child Abuse Charge

Fontenelle Elementary Principal Eric Nelson made his first court appearance Tuesday in a felony child abuse case. Nelson has posted bail and will have a preliminary hearing in March.

Nelson was arrested for failing to report information in an alleged abuse case involving teacher Greg Sedlacek. He was arrested for child sexual assault.

Authorities became aware of that case when teachers at the school saw Sedlacek acting inappropriately with a 7-year-old student during recess.

Sedlacek faces six counts of First Degree Assault and one count of Third Degree Assault. Prosecutors said witnesses told Nelson on November 18th about Sedlacek's alleged activity."He didn't report it." says Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine.

Nelson was placed on administrative leave.
