Snow Puts A Halt To Many Evening Activities

The metro areas latest round of snow has forced the cancellations of many activities Monday evening. The Omaha Public School District, Millard Public Schools, Westside and Council Bluffs Public Schools all canceled after school and evening events.

Some rural schools dismissed early as the snow rolled through eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. OPS said that buses could be delayed by up to an hour because of the weather. Parents with questions about transportation should call 531-299-0140.

Mayor Jean Stothert says full city crews will remain on duty around the clock. They anticipate residential snow plowing with the contractors. City crews will then follow with salt in the residential areas through Wednesday morning.

Several traffic accidents have been reported throughout the day and Omaha Police are only responding to accident where someone is injured. Drivers involved in property damage accidents are advised to exchange information and file a report later.
