Former Prison Guard In Trouble After Exchanging Emails With An Inmate

A former corrections officer has been arrested after allegedly using a fake name to have email conversations with a convicted killer.

Authorities say 23 year old Andrea Gassman was arrested on charges of Unlawful Acts with an Inmate on January 18th. She had worked as a corporal at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln. Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol say Gassman created an email address with a fake name to email 24 year old Bryton Gibbs.

Gibbs is serving a 100 year sentence for the 2010 stabbing death of a pizza delivery driver in Omaha. In their email conversations, Gibbs and Gassman reportedly talked about their families and about having a sexual relationship together.

Prison officials say Gassman's actions put both herself and her co-workers in danger.
