Three Killed In Crash Near Denison

Three people were killed and two others injured in a two vehicle crash south of Denison, Iowa Thursday morning.

The crash happened shortly after 5 A.M. on Highway 59.

The Iowa State Patrol has identified those killed as 52 year old Penny Hulsebus, of Defiance, Iowa, 48 year old Maria Petra Garcia Hernandez and 42 year old Ericka Leticia Dionicio, both of Denison.

The two people injured have been identified as 50 year old Herme Yaneth Guzman Hernandez and 46 year old Saul Armando Guzman Orellana, both of Denison. Both were taken to a local hospital before being air-lifted by medical helicopter for treatment in Omaha.

Investigators say Hulsebus was northbound on Highway 59 in a Ford Windstar when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound Nissan Rogue driven by Orellana. Maria Petra Garcia Hernandez and Ericka Leticia Dionicio were passengers in the back seat of the Nissan.

The crash remains under investigation.
