A 48 year old Grand Island man is in critical condition after he was found down on the ice on the south side of Carter Lake Wednesday morning.
Police were called to the 1500 block of E. Locust around 10:30 after a passerby noticed Scott Demers on the ice near Kiwanis Park.
Emergency crews arrived and found him unresponsive. He was not wearing gloves and was missing one of his shoes. They got him off the lake, into a police cruiser and then to a rescue squad.
Demers was taken to the hospital in critical condition. His condition has since stabilized.
