Omaha Police say a 21 year old man has died after he was shot while asleep in bed early Sunday morning.
The shooting call came in around 1:40 a.m. near 38th Avenue and Burdette Street. Omaha police someone fired a gun outside of the house. The home was hit by gunfire and Jacque Holbert was inside one of the bedrooms sleeping and was struck.
He was taken to Nebraska Medical Center in extremely critical condition and later died of his injuries. Holbert's death marks the first homicide of 2019 and is the first in the city in more than four months. Police say vehicle might be involved with the shooting, but they are still investigating.
