A man and woman were seriously injured in a one vehicle crash near downtown Wednesday afternoon. Police were called to Abbott and Gallup Drive around 1:30.
Investigators say a 2002 Mercury Cougar was westbound on Abbott at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, over-corrected and left the road on the north side.
The car struck a street light and a traffic signal before coming to rest in a ditch. The driver, 41 year old Erin Odoherty of LaVista suffered a serious back injury. Her passenger, 37 year old Kelly Evans of Omaha is being treated for a serious head laceration.
Police say speed is a primary factor in the crash.
