Authorities have identified the man killed in a Council bluffs apartment fire last week.
The Council Bluffs Fire Department say that 59 year old Charles Ruckman died in the January 8th blaze.
Crews responded to the apartment fire at 221 N 30th Street just after 3:00 and when they arrived, smoke could be seen coming from a second floor unit. Firefighters found Ruckman dead in the apartment after the flames were extinguished.
An autopsy was performed by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office, and they have ruled the preliminary cause of death as smoke inhalation.
