The Drover Could Reopen By Early April

Cleanup and restoration efforts continue at a popular Omaha restaurant after fire caused heavy damage on Christmas Eve.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, The Drover said they are shooting for an early April reopening.  The post urged customers to keep an eye open for the specific date.

Fire broke out in the kitchen of the restaurant near 72nd and Mercy on Christmas Eve morning as an employee was opening for the day.  The fire destroyed the kitchen and burned through the ceiling.  There was smoke damage to the rest of the restaurant.

Damage was estimated at $97,000 and the fire was ruled accidental.
