NYE Fireworks Finale A Go For Saturday

Better late than never.  The New Year's Eve Fireworks Spectacular scheduled for December 31st had to be canceled due to strong wind.  The big fireworks show was rescheduled and will be held Saturday night at the Gene Leahy Mall downtown.

Kylie Vonnahme is the project manager for Vic Gutman and Associates and says this is one of the largest fireworks displays in the region.  She says, "The show starts at 7.  We will have a little ceremony and then the fireworks show will happen.  The show is about 10 to 13 minutes long."

Vonnahme says the weather will excellent for a winter fireworks show and a large crowd is expected.  Typically 20,000 to 30,000 people attend the signature event of the Holiday Lights Festival.  Representatives with Blue Cross Blue Shield Nebraska will be handing out 3-D glasses while they last.

Parking meters will be free after 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 5th.  The Gene Leahy Mall is located at 14th and Farnam.
