Customer Exchanges Gunfire With Robbery Suspects

Omaha Police say one of three men believed to be involved in three armed robberies on New Years Day is now behind bars.  Police say 24 year old Marcus Evans was unmasked during the holdups and has been arrested for three counts of robbery, using a weapon to commit a felony and a misdemeanor warrant. 

The crime spree began at Bucky's at 72nd and Maple just before 6:00 a.m. Tuesday.  Officers spoke with an employee who said three men wearing dark coats entered the store, showed a gun and demanded money. The trio took money, cigarettes and lottery tickets and fled eastbound from the scene. 

About 20 minutes later Police were called to the Kwik Shop near 72nd and Crown Point.  An employee told police three men wearing all black entered the business and threatened to shoot her. They took cigarettes and lottery tickets and fled in an unknown direction.

About 20 minutes later a third robbery and shots fired call came in from the Phillips 66 at 60th and Sorensen Parkway.  6:35 a.m.  Officers spoke with a customer who said he had an exchange of gunfire with three suspects.   No injuries were reported. 

The bandits were wearing black coats and back pants and got away with an undetermined amount of cash.
