Sarpy County authorities say a 25 year old woman died following a tragic accident inside her home near 120th and Carpenter Thursday afternoon.
When rescue personnel arrived around 1:00 they found Asha Chaudhuri stuck in her in-home elevator. Investigators say she was stuck between the decking of the elevator and the main floor of the residence.
Papillion Firefighters used several pieces of extrication equipment to free her from the elevator the while paramedics provided emergency care. After approximately 20 minutes, she was freed and transported to Bergan Mercy Hospital and died shortly after arriving.
The Sarpy County Sheriff's Department says Chaudhuri had special needs and regularly used the lift system to transport herself between the floors of the residence.
The investigation is ongoing.
